This past weekend was a very busy one for us. After the Sock Hop on Friday, we got up the next morning and went up to Orange County for another fun birthday party. This time it was to celebrate our good friend's son Michael Jr.'s 3rd birthday. Andy and Mike Sr. met in a college Finance class and as with all people Andy meets, they have stayed good friends. (He is Andy's friend 'Finance' as mentioned in the JETS-Chargers game post who knows how to throw a great tailgate party) His wife Maria is a great girl, and we hit it off the moment we met. They have a daughter, Sophia who is Rose's age. We see them a few times a year, not as much as I would like. It's too bad we don't live closer. The party was a Spiderman theme....and guess who showed up? Yep..... Spidey himself! He scaled the backyard wall to come share in the fun. The kids loved it....and who knew Spidey was so funny! He put the kids through their paces with an obstacle course complete with shooting silly string like a web at villains like Tila Tequila, Osama Bin Laden, Adolph Hitler and a few others. They catered the party with really great Mexican food. The catering guy brought a propane grill-table thing that was dome shaped he cooked beef, chicken and pork for street tacos....rice and beans.... I was in heaven! Andy doesn't like real Mexican food, so I don't eat it as much as I would like to. It was a great party..... Mike and Maria really throw good ones. Happy Birthday Michael!
Sunday was another busy day. Girl Scout cookie sales started, so we had to pick up the cookies and learn what we had to do to sell them. The higher powers within the GS organization are pretty strict with what you can and can't do to sell, to make it fair and safe for everyone. Rose and Lexie (and us Moms) went around the neighborhood together so all neighbors would know to buy from them both. (Lexie's Mom, Lisa, suggested this to make sure it was fair for both girls.) That really worked out well for everyone, especially Rose, though very excited to sell cookies, really needed someone to do it with. After that, I had to make pink and purple play dough for Rose's class for the month February....which took a few attempts (and an extra trip to the grocery store for more supplies) to get right. My hands are still a little bit pink, along with a permanently pink cutting board. Then we made the 100 buttons shirt, and the next thing I knew, the day had flown by. It was a good weekend, but very busy. I was actually READY for Monday to come. I think I'm done being crafty for a little while. Although tonight I think I'm going to try making a lasagna, so maybe I'll move on to having a culinary week in the kitchen. How UNLIKE me! (and really, it probably won't happen)
