We met our friends Iris, Mike and Maya Strauss at the flower fields in Carlsbad just before they closed for the season. Not exactly high on the list of super fun things for Andy to do, but since we have been unsuccessful time after time in getting together, we figured it would be a good opportunity to finally see them. Their daughter Maya is adorable, and growing so big. We all had a good time....even Andy. Oh, and the fields were beautiiful....even though I'm not sure what the purpose if them is. Do they harvest the bulbs? They can't possibly survive on just selling the flowers.... maybe it's just to draw people in and charge them to look at the flowers? Who knows. Perhaps I should have taken the tractor ride that explained all this and probably more. Maybe I'll find out next year.
