Anchors Aweigh, my boys....Anchors Aweigh! aka. The Supergreat Vacation

We just returned from a great family vacation! We went on a 7 day cruise to Mexico to celebrate my mo-in-law, Barbara Stitzer's 80th birthday. We decided to do this sometime last year as a fun way to mark her special day. Our travel partners were; Barbara & Paul Stitzer, sis & bro-in-law Randi, Brad and (nephew) Daniel Stensberg, sis & bro-in-law Liz and Dennis Salinas along with kids Ian, Sophie and Oren, and the Langer girls: Helene, Roz and their Mom, Paula (Barbara's sister). We went via Royal Caribbean on the Mariner of the Seas, a big and beautiful ship! We headed out of San Pedro on a Sunday, were at sea for a day, stopped in Cabo San Lucas Tuesday, Mazatlan on Wednesday, Puerto Vallarta Thursday, then were at sea for 2 more days, making it back to San Pedro the following Sunday. (I plan to write about the trip in a few entries, as I KNOW the details are FASCINATING!)

Andy's sister Liz and her family live in Chicago. We have never had all of our family and hers together at the same time. The cousins had not all met each other, and I had yet to meet my niece, so I was really excited to get to see them all and spend time together. They came out a few days early to do a few things in the L.A. area, so we went up to meet them at Disneyland the Saturday before we left. What a way to start a vacation if you are a kid, right? Hurray for Disneyland!! It was nice as Andy got to come and Barbara and Paul came too. Paul even rode Splash Mountain with all the kids! The kids all had a great time. Rose continues to LOVE the roller coasters, as does David. They both did Big Thunder Mountain for the first time and loved it. It's great now that the kids are getting a little older and tall enough to do bigger rides. Joey did the Toon Town roller coaster for the second time now and looks like he will be a coaster lover too. The evening was topped off with a treat...staying at a hotel right near the park. Normally it's me taking the kids to the park for the day, then putting them in jammies for the 1 1/2 hour drive home while they sleep. It was wonderful to drive a few minutes and get to sleep shortly thereafter. The next morning we got up, went for breakfast at Denny's (who doesn't love a good Moons Over My Hammy?) then had a half hour drive to San Pedro to meet the family and our ship.

To be continued...... on pins and needles yet?
